Review first aid for PPE and COVID
What do I need to do?
Employers need to assess what PPE is required for the workplace. This will be very much dependent on the nature of business activities, where they are completed and by who.
In line with current industry guidance, as part of the Covid-19 risk assessment, those who are at risk will be identified and what measures employers must implement to mitigate this risk.
In line with the hierarchy of controls, PPE must always be used as last resort and applied where other controls are not feasible or practical to implement.
With respect to first aid, this is a primary example of where social distancing cannot be implemented and one of the few Covid-19 issues which will affect consistently every workplace.
Employers need to assess what will be done in emergency situations and identify any additional control measures that will be required to ensure employees safety.
